Scrappage Scheme turns Motor Industry Upside Down
According to recent motor news the Scrappage Scheme has had a rather bizarre affect on the motor industry and in some cases has made the price of new cars chaper than used ones!
Used car prices are still on the rise and with the huge savings that can be made on brand new carsĀ – some motoritsts are finding them to be more affordable.
Another factor that is having an affect on this new trend is the fact that new can finance can be cheaper than used car finance.
A WhatCar? survey found that popular models such as the Volkswagen Golf and Fiat 500 are actually cheaper to buy under the Government Scrappage Scheme than models that are a year old.
This year alone new car prices have risen by around 9.5% whereas amazingly used car prices are 30% higher than last year.
…No wonder I’m having such a tough time trying to replace my old Ford Ka! My car is 13 years old and therefore does qualify for the Scrappage Scheme I’m just not really sure where to start and where I can get the best deal!
